Jangchung Arena (Jangchung Gymnasium) in Jung-gu is one of Seoul's older indoor arenas, run by the Seoul Facilities Corporation, with 4,507 seats including 1,324 retractable ones. It hosts fan meetings and concerts in our calendar, and it is close to the Dongdaemun area, where many visitors stay.

Seats & views

Stage layout differs for every show, so check the seat map on the ticket page before you choose. How to read Korean seat labels

Jangchung Arena

10 tips
  • It is a small arena: fans report that even the back of the lower ring and the last rows upstairs feel close to the stage. Several sources[3][4][5]
  • Center seats facing the stage are the safe pick. With the common setup (stage near G-J), sections A and P face it directly - confirm on your show's seat map. Several sources[4][6]
How sections are numbered

Capacity by stage setup (approx.)

All seats (after the 2015 renovation, official)4,507 [1]
Concerts: seats usually sold / reported maximumabout 4,500 / about 5,500 [2]

The same venue holds very different numbers depending on how the stage is built. These are official figures and reported examples, not the seat count for your show.

How sections are numbered

The stands are lettered A to P around the ring. Upper-ring sections end in 2 (A2, C2, D2, O2 and so on) and lower-ring sections in 1 (B1–O1). Floor blocks are numbered for each show. For concerts the stage is usually near G–J, so A and P face it head-on, but the layout changes by event.

Good spots 1 tips
  • Upper ring ('2nd floor') shows the whole stage well, but faces are hard to make out without zoom or the screen. Several sources[4][5]
Cautions 3 tips
  • Avoid side sections: the hall is wide, and monitors and stage equipment often block side views. Exactly which letters count as 'side' depends on where the stage is placed. Several sources[2][4]
  • Floor seats are on a flat surface, so your view depends on the height of the people diagonally in front of you. The floor, lower ring and upper ring are separate tiers, and the back of the lower ring can feel a bit detached. Several sources[2][4]
  • In some upper sections (reported for D2), lighting rigs or stage lifts can hide performers at certain moments. This depends on the production. One report[5]
Entrances & access 2 tips
  • Dongguk University Station (Line 3), Exit 5, opens right in front of the arena (about 1 minute), with an underground passage and escalator; Gate 2 is the nearest entrance. Several sources[1][2][6][7]
  • After the show Dongguk University Station gets crowded; Yaksu Station (Line 3/6) is about a 7-minute walk, and night bus N13 stops in front. One report[6]
Facilities 2 tips
  • No permanent lockers inside the arena (temporary ones may appear); there are about 13 coin lockers inside Dongguk University Station. One report[6]
  • Restrooms by the main entrance have the longest lines; walk further along the hallway. The renovation gave women 1.7x as many toilets as men, and there are accessible toilets on 1F and 40 wheelchair seats. One report[1][6][8]

These are the latest trains in any direction; many end before central Seoul. Use the table above for your hotel area.

Latest departures on the Saturday / Sunday/holiday timetable. Times are from the Seoul Metro timetable and are estimates; check the station on the night.

Plan B: taxi. After a big show taxis near the gate are hard to get — walk a few streets away first, or set the destination in a taxi app (Kakao T, Uber). A late-night surcharge applies.

On the weekday timetable, the last trains from Dongguk Univ. leave between 23:45 and Next day 00:59, depending on the direction and how far you are going. On the Saturday and Sunday/holiday timetable, the last trains from Dongguk Univ. leave between 23:04 and 23:59, depending on the direction and how far you are going.

With the station at the door, Jangchung is one of the easiest venues to leave. Line 3 runs north through Jongno 3-ga and south across the river towards Gangnam, and Yaksu Station, a short walk away, adds Line 6. The box above lists the last departures in each direction.

Of the 3 shows we have tracked here, the start times were 15:00, 16:00, 17:00 and 18:00. Listed running time: 2 h.

These are timetable figures, not live data. Trains after a big show are packed, so check the station board on the night.
