FAQ
The questions and answers from our guides, collected on one page. The answers are the same text as in each guide, grouped under the name of the guide, which links to it. Rules differ by show and can change, so check the guide and the official notices for the latest.
Before you fly
K-ETA and entry rules
Will the airline let me board without a K-ETA?
If your passport is from one of the 22 exempt countries or regions, yes, until 31 December 2026 (as of 15 October 2026). You then submit the arrival card on paper or online.
I am travelling in January 2027. What applies?
As of 15 October 2026 nothing has been announced for 2027. Check the notices on k-eta.go.kr before you go.
My country is not on the list. What then?
Then the temporary exemption doesn't apply to you, and you need either a K-ETA (if your country is visa-free for Korea) or a visa. Check the K-ETA site or your Korean embassy.
Does my concert ticket need my K-ETA details?
No. The passport verification some ticket sites ask for is a separate process; see Passport verification on Korean ticket sites.
Arriving on show day
Can I register for SES before I fly?
According to Rurubu (updated July 2026), there is no online pre-registration; you register on arrival at Incheon (and Jeju from May 2026).
What if I land at Gimpo?
Gimpo and Gimhae have no registration counters (June 2026, Rurubu), but already-registered travellers can use the SES gates there.
Can children use SES?
Registration is for ages 17 and over (Rurubu). Incheon Airport's page also gives 17+ for the departure e-gates.
Do I need to register to use the e-gates when leaving?
No. Incheon Airport says short-term visitors aged 17 and over can use the departure gates without registering.
eSIM and mobile data
Can I buy an eSIM before I fly?
Yes for KT's data-only eSIM and SK telecom's eSIMs, on their official sites. KT's eSIM with a phone number is sold only at the airport. Check that your phone supports eSIM and isn't carrier-locked.
Will a Korean number let me pass ticket-site ID checks?
No. KT and SK telecom both say tourist numbers can't receive Korean identity-verification texts. Buy through the global ticket sites with passport verification instead (passport verification guide).
Does my lightstick app need data?
The HYBE, SM and FANLIGHT apps register your seat and pair over Bluetooth, and HYBE asks you to finish before arriving because venue congestion can make it fail. See Lightsticks and Bluetooth pairing.
What to pack
Can I bring a power bank?
We found no Korean venue rule banning power banks, and NOL World's show checklists actually recommend bringing one. Still check your show's cautions.
Can I bring a camera?
Check the show notice. In single-event examples, the outdoor BTS show (March 2026) banned cameras including GoPros, and KCON JAPAN 2026 allowed filming on phones only. Filming rules are also covered in Concert etiquette.
Can I go straight to the venue with a suitcase?
Not recommended. KSPO DOME's lockers are at the station and official information on INSPIRE Arena conflicts. Whether a show offers bag storage varies, and some, like Stray Kids at KSPO DOME, set fixed hours and cash-only payment.
What to wear
What should I wear to a concert in Seoul in October?
October averages 15.0 °C, with an average high of 20.2 °C and an average low of 10.6 °C (normals). A long-sleeved top may be enough by day, but it gets cool after the show, so bring a light jacket.
Are heels not allowed in standing areas?
We found no official rule banning heels. NOL World's checklist does recommend sneakers because of the long standing.
Should I queue early in winter?
Don't queue overnight. TWS's fan meeting notice in March 2026 asked fans not to wait in line overnight. Entry and merch times are in your show's notice.
Buying T-money
Can I tap my foreign contactless card at the gates?
Not as of October 2026. Seoul plans to switch the Line 1–8 gates in 2027. Use T-money or another transport card.
Does T-money work on the airport train?
Yes. The AREX all-stop train from Terminal 1 to Seoul Station is 4,750 won by card; the express has its own ticket. See Incheon Airport to the main venues.
Anything to watch on show day?
Machines at the station get busy after the show, so top up for the trip home before it starts. Leave-by times are in Last trains after a concert.
Year-end award shows
Is MAMA 2026 in Korea?
No. It is on 20–21 November 2026 at Kyocera Dome Osaka (CJ ENM announcement). In 2025 it was at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong.
Is MBC Gayo Daejejeon on 31 December again?
No 2026 date had been announced on 18 October. It was on 31 December in 2025, but that does not confirm this year.
Where do award show tickets go on sale?
Only on the seller the organiser names. KGMA 2026 is on NOL; MMA 2025 was on Melon Ticket. MMA 2026 is on Melon Ticket (official site, checked 19 October). For SBS Gayo Daejeon and Golden Disc, sales had not been announced on 18 October.
Tickets and seats
Passport verification
Do I have to verify again for every show?
No, not on NOL World: you verify once per account and it applies to later "Verified Member Only" shows. YES24 and Ticketlink also verify the account, but Ticketlink asks you to verify again if your passport is reissued.
Can I upload a photo of my passport?
No. NOL World and YES24 reject photos, copies and screenshots; you scan the original, valid passport live.
I spotted a typo in my name after verifying. What now?
You can't edit your name or date of birth yourself after verifying. On YES24, deleting the account erases the verification so you can verify a new account (accounts with violations can't be deleted). Whichever site it is, contact its support first.
Does verifying guarantee me a ticket?
No. It only unlocks the Buy button for those shows. For sale day itself, see Sale-day tips for Korean ticket sites.
Are fees different for verified shows?
Ticketlink says shows that need passport verification carry a ticket service fee of 8,000 won, which can vary by product. NOL World's fee for concerts is 8,000 won, rising to 9,000 won from 16 November 2026.
When your card fails
Do debit or prepaid cards work?
None of the official FAQs says clearly. Melon Ticket Global says credit cards only. The safe choice is a credit card of a brand the site lists, with 3D Secure set up.
Does a Japanese JCB card work?
NOL World and Melon Ticket Global accept JCB. YES24 only says "credit cards with 3D Secure" without a brand list, and Ticketlink Global doesn't publish its brands.
Can a Korean friend pay with their card?
The global sites expect a card issued outside Korea (NOL World, Melon). Many shows also check the booker's name and passport at pickup or entry, so buy with your own account and your own card.
The payment errored. Should I start again?
First check your booking history (My Reservations, My Ticket) in case the booking went through. NOL World lets you cancel free of charge until 11:59 pm on the day you booked.
Sale-day tips
Is a computer better than a phone?
The sites don't say one is better; many guides recommend a computer. What matters is not using one account on several devices at once (on NOL World the earlier queue number is closed).
What time is the sale in my time zone?
Sale times are KST (UTC+9). Japan is the same; Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore are one hour behind; subtract 9 hours for UTC.
My queue number is huge. Is it worth waiting?
NOL World says a queue number doesn't guarantee a ticket. But closing or refreshing sends you to the back, so if you wait, stay put.
Can I buy for a friend?
Some shows allow several tickets within the limit, but fan-club presales are often one per person, and some shows require the buyer and the attendee to be the same person (a Ticketlink fan-meeting example). Check the show page.
NOL World troubleshooting
Does a Rakuten JCB card work?
NOL World accepts JCB but doesn't say which card companies work. If it is declined, ask the card company about overseas use and 3D Secure. We can't promise any card will go through.
I cancelled but haven't been refunded.
Once the transaction has reached your card company, refunds take about 5–7 days and appear on the next statement. Timing varies, so ask your card company.
Can I change my name after verification?
Not yourself; only through the name-correction request for passport names with non-English characters. A different order alone is fine for entry.
If I delete my account and make a new one, can I verify again?
Yes. Deleting erases the verified information, so a different account can verify. Your reservation history is deleted too, and restricted accounts can't be deleted.
Can I collect my ticket the day before?
No. Box-office pickup is on the show day from one hour before the start, with your confirmation number and ID, unless the show page says otherwise. For the ID check, see What ID to bring to a Korean concert.
YES24 Ticket troubleshooting
Can I collect my tickets the day before?
No. The FAQ says tickets can't be picked up before the show day. Go to the venue box office on the day with your original passport and booking confirmation.
Can I collect a friend's tickets for them?
Per the FAQ, Will Call tickets can only be collected by the ticket holder. Some shows run things differently, so check the detail page.
Can I log in with my Korean YES24 ID?
No. The English ticket site needs its own sign-up, and it doesn't share members with the global.yes24.com book store either.
Why can't I pay with PayPal?
PayPal only works when there are more than 180 days between your booking date and the show. For bookings closer to the show, pay with a 3D Secure-enabled credit card.
How long does support take to reply?
YES24 says emails to global_yesticket@yes24.com get a reply within 2–3 working days. Include your name, contact details, email address and purchase number.
Melon Ticket Global troubleshooting
Why won't the site accept my email address?
Only addresses at gmail.com, qq.com, yahoo.co.jp, icloud.com, outlook.com and hotmail.com can sign up. Any other address is refused, so use one from that list.
I'm locked out. What now?
After too many failed logins, your password is reset and a new one is emailed to you. If you can't find that email, use the password reset with your email address and name to get a new one sent.
I typed my name wrong when I signed up.
You can't change the name yourself after sign-up. Ask through a 1:1 inquiry; you may be asked for documents. The pickup name has to match your passport, so do this early.
Can I collect my tickets the day before?
No. The FAQ says tickets can't be collected before the day of the show. For a mobile ticket, check [My] on the global mobile site.
Until when can I cancel for free?
Until 11:59 pm Korea time on the day you booked. That is also the only case where the booking fee comes back. After that, the fee table on the show page applies.
PAYCO sign-up
Do I need the PAYCO payment app to buy on Ticketlink Global?
Ticketlink's guide asks only for a PAYCO ID made with an email address and a password, created from the global Sign In page. It doesn't mention installing an app to sign up.
Can I use my Korean Ticketlink account?
No. Ticketlink says one ID can't be used on both the Korean and the global service, so make a separate global account.
Do I need a Korean phone number?
Not to sign up for the global site: Ticketlink says global sign-up needs no extra identity verification. The Korean site is the one that needs Korean mobile verification. Checkout asks for a mobile number.
It says "Restricted IP". What now?
Solve the captcha shown on the screen. Ticketlink's FAQ says PAYCO uses this block against account theft during sign-up, login and account recovery.
Ticket scams
Is it illegal to take a friend's ticket at face value?
Reports say the August 2026 decrees judge ordinary personal resale case by case. Even if it's legal, shows that require booker and attendee to match, or that ban personal transfers, may refuse you entry.
Can I use a ticketing proxy?
Some shows ban proxy services, as BIGHIT MUSIC's notice does, and Korean police reportedly warned that proxy posts may be used to steal personal data. To buy yourself, see Ticketing tips.
The show I want is sold out. What now?
The National Consumer Affairs Center recommends buying only from official sellers or fan clubs and using official resale. Check the show notice for whether official resale exists.
Is an overseas resale site safe?
The Korea Times (September 2026) notes overseas sellers are outside Korean jurisdiction, and notices like BIGHIT MUSIC's put the damage from illegal sites on the buyer.
Reading seat labels
Is 1층 the floor?
It depends on the venue. KSPO DOME's official guide calls the floor 1층, but other venues and shows label the floor 플로어 (FLOOR) and the first tier of the stands 1층. Check the seat map for your show.
My ticket has no row (열). Why?
It may be standing or unreserved, or the exact seat is only revealed at pickup. NOL World's Play&Stay packages, for example, assign seats at random within the grade and reveal them at pickup.
What is 시야제한석?
"Restricted-view seat": a seat where equipment or structures block part of the stage. Whether a show sells them varies; look for a note on the ticket page.
Cancelled tickets
Is there a set time when cancelled tickets appear?
Only YES24 gives one, for unpaid bank transfers (bookings past the deadline are cancelled in sequence from midnight). The other sites only say cancelled seats return to the seat map when they are cancelled.
Can I get returned seats on a global site?
NOL World says cancelled seats appear on its seat map in real time. But some re-releases, like EXO's in September 2026, are limited to members verified for the Korean fan-club presale. Check the show notice.
Is buying a friend's ticket at face value illegal?
The ministry reportedly said that selling one ticket once is generally hard to treat as habitual (September 2026). Separately, every seller bans transfers, and some shows check the booker's ID at entry, so you could be refused.
On the day
ID at the venue
Will my driver's licence or national ID card work?
Official notices list the passport (or a residence card for residents) as ID for foreigners. We found no official notice accepting foreign driving licences or national ID cards, so bring your passport.
Can I show a photo of my passport?
Assume not. The Jannabi notice and the TWS fansign notice both state that copies and photos are not accepted.
If I am turned away at the ID check, do I get a refund?
Ticketlink's notices say bringing valid ID is the attendee's responsibility and tickets refused entry because identity couldn't be verified are not refunded on the day.
Do children need ID?
Shows with age limits may ask for proof of age, so children should carry their own passport. How the limit is written (full age or birth year) also differs by show.
Concert etiquette
Can I take photos with my phone?
It depends on the show. Some venues ban all filming (BLUESQUARE, for example), some shows allow it during the encore, and some set different rules by seat (Jannabi, 2026). Check the precautions in your show's notice.
Can I bring banners or fan boards?
We found no official venue rules on slogan or board sizes. Shows sometimes cover this in their notices, so check there.
Does my lightstick have to be official?
We found no official statement limiting fans to official lightsticks. Wireless light shows synced to the stage are a feature of official lightsticks, though. See Lightsticks and Bluetooth pairing.
Lightstick pairing
Will it light up without seat registration?
The HYBE, FANLIGHT and SM apps all rely on registered seat information for the wireless show. What an unregistered lightstick does varies by model.
Does a lightstick bought abroad work in Korea?
We found no official statement about where it was bought. Check which versions (VER2, VER3 and so on) the show supports in the official app and the show notice.
Can I swap seats with a friend?
FANLIGHT's apps warn that sitting somewhere other than your registered seat can change the light pattern, so re-register if you swap.
When can I pair?
HYBE's apps say about one or two days before (the same listing also says "several days prior"). Check the app and the show notice.
Merch booths
Can I order Pickup items from abroad?
For TWS in June 2026, Pickup items could only be ordered within 40 km of the venue. Plan to order after you arrive, and check the conditions in the show notice.
Do I need a concert ticket to buy merch?
It depends on the show; check the notice for conditions.
Do booths take foreign cards?
We found no official cross-show information on booth payment methods. Weverse Shop's online checkout accepted PayPal, Alipay+ and Apple Pay among others in the 2026 examples.
Fan meeting vs concert
Can I take photos at a fan meeting?
It depends on the event; some venues ban all filming (Concert etiquette).
Are fan meetings sold on the global ticket sites?
Some are. Whether the global page sells it, and whether there is a global membership presale, is in the notice. See the ticket guides for each site.
Will I enjoy it without Korean?
Fan meetings are talk-heavy, so interpretation makes a difference. There is no common official rule on interpreters or subtitles; check the event's notice.
Attending a fan meeting
Can I go without a membership?
The presale is members-only, but some shows hold a general sale afterwards (NCT JNJM's fan meeting opened general sale on 15 April 2026). Whether there is a general sale and whether seats remain depends on the show.
If I verify on the Korean page, can I buy on the global page?
Verification only counts on the page where you did it. To buy on the global page, verify there.
Can I borrow a friend's membership?
No. SEVENTEEN's notice said lending a membership or ID leads to a ban, and many shows require the membership name to match the buyer and attendee.
How is a fan meeting different from a concert?
Content, venue size and ticket conditions are compared in Fan meeting vs concert.
Concert-day Korean phrases
Can I get by without Korean?
Show the Korean on this page or use a translation app. If you are unsure of your pronunciation, showing the text is the most reliable way.
Will people understand the romanization?
Romanization only approximates Korean sounds. If you are not understood, show the Korean text instead.
Polite or casual Korean?
The phrases here end in polite "-yo", so you can use them with staff, shop workers and taxi drivers.
I want camera translation offline
According to Google's help pages, Google Translate's camera works offline once the language is downloaded (on iPhone, download both Korean and English). Papago's image translation does not work offline.
Food after the show
Are there 24-hour restaurants?
Some places stay open all night, but this page does not check individual opening hours. Filter by 영업중 (open now) on NAVER Map and check the closing time.
What if eating means missing the last train?
Put getting home first. A convenience store near your hotel or a delivery app lets you eat without worrying about the train. See last trains after concerts.
I am worried about ordering
Phrases such as "Can we still eat now?" and "What time do you close?" are in Korean phrases for concert day.
Can I use a foreign card on delivery apps?
Shuttle accepts international credit cards and PayPal (official App Store listing). Baemin is reported to accept overseas payment methods. Check the payment screen before you order.
Photo rules
Can I take photos with my phone?
It depends on the show. Some allow filming only during the encore, some set rules by seat, and some ban it from entry to exit. Check the ticket page and the official notice.
Can I bring a mirrorless or DSLR camera?
Most notices ban professional cameras or filming gear, and we found no official definition of "professional". Leaving it behind is safer.
What happens if I am caught filming?
Examples include deleting the footage, holding the device and removal from the venue (a 2026 show, news report). It differs by show.
Bags and lockers
Can I bring a power bank?
We found no official ban at Korean venues. NOL's show checklists suggest bringing one, and the Olympic Park information centre rents them (9am–7pm).
Can I bring my suitcase to the venue?
Do not count on a cloakroom unless the show notice mentions one. Station T-Lockers (5am–midnight), T-Luggage or your hotel are safer. A big outdoor show has banned suitcases outright (Gwanghwamun, March 2026).
Can I bring a lightstick and a slogan?
Lightsticks are allowed at most shows, and one show handed an official lightstick to everyone (Jannabi, October 2026). One notice said staff may stop oversized slogans (BTS, April 2026); we found no official size limit.
Getting there and back
Airport to the venue
Express or all-stop?
The express is faster to Seoul Station but costs 13,000 won. The all-stop is slower but 4,750 won and lets you change at Gongdeok, Hongik Univ. or Gimpo Airport, so for venues far from Seoul Station it can get you there sooner.
My flight lands late. Can I still get into the city?
The last all-stop train that reaches Seoul Station leaves T1 at 23:38 (the 23:56 only goes to Digital Media City). Late-night airport buses (N6000 and others) also leave the airport from about 23:00 until about 04:00.
What if I land at Gimpo Airport?
Gimpo Airport Station is on Lines 5 and 9, so Olympic Park (Lines 5 and 9) and Gwangnaru for YES24 LIVE HALL (Line 5) need no change.
Last trains after the show
Are Saturday and Sunday different?
In our data, Saturday and Sunday/holiday leave-by times are the same, and weekdays are later at every venue.
My venue isn't in the table.
The table only covers venues we can calculate from Seoul subway Lines 1–9. AREX, the Shinbundang, Gyeongui–Jungang lines and GTX-A are not in the data; check Naver Map or Kakao Map for those.
Can the times change on the night?
They are timetable figures, not live data. Stations and trains are crowded after big shows, so check the station boards or an app on the day.
Can I get back to the airport after the show?
AREX isn't in our timetable data, so check its official timetable. For an early flight the next morning, staying near the airport is the safe option.
Taxi apps
Do I need a Korean phone number for Kakao T?
Phone verification is required; the FAQ doesn't say whether foreign numbers work, though fans report signing up with +81 numbers. k.ride, Uber and TABA don't need a Kakao account.
Can I call a taxi without registering a card?
Yes, for a Kakao T regular call: choose "pay the driver directly" and pay in the car.
Do street taxis take foreign cards?
We could not confirm that every taxi accepts foreign cards. Carrying a little Korean cash is a sensible backup.
Which apps work in Japanese or English?
k.ride has English and Japanese screens (Korea JoongAng Daily). Kakao T supports Korean, English and Japanese according to the travel site seoulstart.
Where to stay
Myeongdong or Hongdae?
It depends on the venue. Compare the times for both in the table above. Hongdae also has an Airport Railroad (AREX) station, which makes airport trips easy.
What if the show finishes late?
Stay within walking distance or on the venue's line with no change. See Last trains after a concert for how to plan and what to do if you miss it.
Do the times work for weekday shows?
The table shows Saturday times. In our data, every venue and destination can be reached later on weekdays than on Saturdays, and Sundays and holidays match Saturday. Weekday times are in the last-train guide and on each venue page.
Venue capacity ranking
What is the biggest concert venue in Korea?
Jamsil Olympic Stadium at about 70,000, but it has been closed since August 2023 and reports say it won't host concerts until around 2031. Of the venues open in October 2026, Busan Asiad Main Stadium (53,769 seats) and Goyang Stadium (about 50,000 for concerts) are the largest.
How many people does KSPO DOME hold?
15,000 according to the Olympic Park official site, which also shows 14,594 on its intro page.
What is Gocheok Sky Dome's capacity?
About 16,000 fixed seats and up to 25,000 with the floor, per NOL World's venue page.
Which Korean concert venues are new?
Inspire Arena in Incheon, opened at the end of 2023. Seoul Arena in Chang-dong aims to open in the first half of 2027 and isn't open as of October 2026.
How many does KINTEX hold?
We found no official concert capacity for KINTEX's halls, so it isn't in this list. Getting there is on our KINTEX page.
